ONE-MINUTE MINDFULNESS: SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

Published February 4, 2017 by

Did you know that 1.33 BILLION chicken wings will be consumed on Super Bowl Sunday?

More than 660 million chickens gave up their lives so that we can eat those delicious chicken wings.

If you’re vegetarian or vegan, consider how millions of living plants gave up their lives so that we could enjoy grains, veggies, and fruits.

Think about the countless people who worked hard to raise, grow, harvest, transport, package, and prepare the wonderful food and drinks we enjoy.

Pause and reflect upon the inconceivable chain of events, people, and situations that created this moment just for you!

In the Hongwanji tradition of mindful gratitude, we put our palms together, bow our heads, and say Namo Amida Butsu, entrusting in All-Inclusive Wisdom and All-Embracing Compassion.

Or, just say “MAHALO!” for aloha and ‘ohana in this unrepeatable life!
